Courthouse Hotel, 38 Abbot Street, Cairns
The Courthouse Hotel is a beautifully restored heritage building located in a prime position at the southern end of the Cairns Esplanade. The new lagoon, Pier Shopping Centre, and Marlin Marina are opposite the hotel, while the central shopping mall, casino and convention centre are all close by.
This grand building was built in 1922 and remained home to the Supreme Court in Cairns until 1992. Sympathetically renovated in 2000 and again in 2004, the Courthouse is now once again a hub of activity. Outside the stand alone hotel are two large beer gardens which let guests fully appreciate tropical far north Queensland. Inside, tourists and locals alike can enjoy the stately atmosphere of the spacious central bar, bistro and gaming area.
